Annual Day Celebrations 2007-08

DMCS celebrated its Annual Day recently with great enthusiasm. On the occasion, the school had the privilege of having three distinguished visitors.
The Guests of Honour were Rev. Fr. Melwin Mendonca, Principal, St. Joseph’s PU College,
Bangalore and Squadron Leader, N. Gayathri, Squadron Commander of 4 Trainee Squadrons, Electronic Training Institute, Jalahalli-Bangalore.
We were also honoured by the presence of Dr. Vanaja S.Kumar, Professor of Sociology. Her interest in the success of our Self-Service Counter motivated her visit to the school. She spoke to the parents gathered about the importance of spending time with their children and recognizing their emotional needs.
Rev. Fr. Melwin Mendonca has been actively involved in the field of education. In April 2007, he was appointed as the youngest Principal of St. Joseph’s PU College. A total team leader, he motivates staff and students to realize their full potential. Under his able leadership, St. Joseph’s PU College has organized various programmes, fests and seminars of great relevance to contemporary society.
Squadron Leader N. Gayathri was commissioned in the Administrative and Fighter Controller
Branch of the Indian Air Force in 1996. She has served at several postings including the Kargil
Operations.
For the past five years, she has been associated with training in various fields including like management training to Senior Non Commissioned Officers at the Faculty of Leadership and Instructional Training at Air Force Station, Tambaram- Chennai. This highly motivated woman officer of the IAF is a multifaceted personality who has a keen interest in classical music and a trained classical dancer.
Both Rev. Fr. Mendonca and Squadron Leader Gayathri had the audience spellbound with their speeches that focused on the development of the holistic development of students.
Their down-to-earth approach endeared them to the audience. The parents were highly impressed with their inspirational words.
The Deputy Director of Public Instructions, Bangalore North, Shri. Channabasappa
and Sqn. Ldr. N. Gayathri were the Guests of Honour at the Annual Day Programme at
Vidyaranyapura.
It was indeed a motivating experience to be in the presence of such accomplished personalities. Over to 2008-09!
Being aware of the social commitment of an educational institution
towards society, the students of DMCS celebrated World Environment Day on 05th June, 2007 by participating in a Tree Plantation programme organized by Garden City College in association with Radio Mirchi. It was an enjoyable day with the students being helped to realize the necessity of preserving the environment.
A Talent Search Contest was organized on 18th November, 2007
which was open to DMCS students and children from the neighbourhood. The painting competition was sponsored by M/s. Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd. A Fancy Dress Competition was also conducted and the winners of both the contests were awarded prizes on the Annual Day.
As a follow-up of this programme, the talented students were invited for a painting workshop on 02nd December , 2007. The students thoroughly enjoyed this session which was conducted by our in-house art coordinator.
A Free Diabetes Camp was held at the school in connection with the
World Diabetes Day in November, in collaboration with Micro Labs Limited, eliciting a very good response from the neighbourhood.
The School Choir performed at the Yuletide Choral Festival held
at St. Francis Xavier’s Girls High School, Fraser Town in December 2007.
